I achieved my freedom 10 years later than you (at 25) though. *blush* Interestingly, my father said that me getting my license was one of the reasons he guessed I was "setting myself up for the gay lifestyle" (his words). I would tend to agree, my self-dependance and coming to terms with my sexuality were both quite strongly linked in my mind too. Yes, to me a car was freedom too. To me, car = freedom. I'd like to get a new car.
